Husband and wife team, Sonja, whose background lies in geography and teaching, and Ben, whose specialties are marine biology and ecotoxicology, are committed to the environmental preservation of this extraordinary place. Oceanside Meadows marries all that you would expect from an historic inn that has been open since 1860, with an unparalleled opportunity to explore and understand Maine's environment and its natural splendor.

Oceanside Meadows Institute for the Arts and Sciences
The Oceanside Meadows Institute for the Arts and Sciences has its home base in the historic timber framed barn circa 1820 located between our two inn buildings, which we restored in the spring of 1998. The barn now transformed serves as a wonderful space for lectures, seminars and concerts held through the summer season. In 1998 some of the summers highlights included a week seminar lecture series with Dr. Alan Hale (co-discoverer of comet Hale-Bopp) and astronomer Gary Becker; a lecture from Dr. David Wingate an ornithologist of world renown and a magnificent evening of music with Opera Maine.
We invite you to join us here for a relaxing respite on the ocean. Be lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf on our private sandy beach. Individually appointed bedrooms are all furnished with your comfort in mind. Ocean and meadow views, private baths, flowers from the garden and gentle sea breezes await you.
Enjoy hearty gourmet breakfasts in our gracious dining room as you watch the lobster boats ply the Atlantic just yards away. Feast on wild blueberry pancakes, specialty omelets, homemade breads and other delights. We cater to vegetarian and other dietary needs.
Our unique sandy beach is a great place to have a picnic, lay in the sun or take a dip in the refreshing Atlantic. Explore the rugged coastline, tidal pools, and lighthouses; spot an eagle or osprey overhead; try sea kayaking, yachting or fresh water canoeing. Join us for croquet on the lawn; relax in the flower gardens or curl up by the fire with a good book or parlor game.
