Come sail the magnificent rock shoreline of Acadia National Park at Schoodic, see Cadillac Mountain and Maine the way it was meant to be seen, from a sailboat!
United
States Coast Guard licensed captain Jeff Prosser looks forward to
welcoming you aboard his 27' Bristol Sloop the Bon Hiver. You
will see the beautiful Maine Coast from the deck of a sailboat
like you have never seen it before. Captain Prosser will take you
by rock bound islands with their stately green fir trees, rugged
weather worn rock formations, and an occasional cottage of days
gone by.
Captain Prosser has logged over three thousand miles on the coast of Maine. When sailing with Salty Dog Tours you never have to worry about crowds, not on the boat or on the water. We can take groups up to 5 people, but are happy to accommodate just one. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful coastline. Wildlife often encountered include osprey, eiders, loons, seals, porpoises and the occasional whale. Glide silently by Winter Harbor lighthouse, and around Schoodic Point. So bring your camera and sit back and enjoy the ride, or help tend the sheets and sail the boat. No experience is necessary.
Bon Hiver takes you to many places of interest. The
Schoodic Peninsula area affords panoramic views of Mount Desert
Island and Cadillac Mountain, Schoodic Mountain and the islands
of Frenchman's Bay. Other points of interest include Egg Rock
lighthouse, Winter Harbor lighthouse, the Porcupine Islands and
Turtle Island.
Bon Hiver is easy to find, she sails out of Winter Harbor on peaceful Acadia's Schoodic Peninsula, so you don't have to worry about the Bar Harbor bustle and traffic. From Ellsworth, take US Highway 1 east about 18 miles to Route 186. Turn right on 186 and drive 6.4 miles to Main Street in Winter Harbor (Route 186 forms a "T" with Main Street). Turn left on Main Street. After a mile you will see the Gypsy Moose Glass Studio and home of Salty Dog Sailing on your left, just before the entrance to Acadia National Park at Schoodic.
Reservations are recommended, but not required. Trips leave twice daily with sailing lessons also available.
One Half Day...............US$ 40.00 per person (max five people)
Please remember this is Maine and trips are based on weather conditions. VISA, MC and AMEX accepted. Please call Captain Prosser (207) 963 2674 for reservations or information.
